Glock 30 Bullets - I like to test the potential carry ammo in my carry pistol (Glock 30) to see how it performs. Since the G30 has a 3.78″ barrel, some brands that work well in a 5″ barrel do not do well in my G30. Missing ballistic gelatin, I use wet newspaper. My standard test is to shoot a magazine (10 rounds) through wet newspaper with two layers of thick cotton t-shirt and two layers of denim on the front (there aren't many naked villains out there and my testing has shown me that many hollow point brands do not stretch when drawn from fabric). I soaked the newspaper overnight with fire from a distance of about 10′. This image shows today's test results:
As you can see, only four out of ten have expanded. Those who expanded did so in spectacular fashion. The penetration of the wet newspaper was about 8-10″. It does not seem to be suitable for short barrels. I think it will work well in my full size 1911, I will have to test it to confirm.

Top row, L to R: Ranger T 230gr from today, Taurus 185gr copper (standard compression load and what I believe is the same bullet Corbon uses in the DPX, about half the rounds looked like this, the rest didn't quite expanded) and a Hornady Critical Defense 185gr from a few weeks ago (all the rounds looked like this).

The limited testing I've done with my full size 1911 shows that the 230gr Gold Dot consistently performs well, the Taurus brass also performs consistently well, and the 230gr Golden Saber performs reasonably well, but not very consistently. Based on that, I think the Ranger 230gr should work well in my 1911 as well.
