HII's Newport News Shipbuilding Division dispatched 23 submarines to the James River for the first time.
The company moved the USS New Jersey to the shipyard's submarine dock with the help of tugboats. It will now undergo final testing, tuning and crew certification.

Newport News Shipbuilding began construction of the submarine in March 2016 under a partnership agreement with General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB).
The submarine is designed with multiple technologies, featuring enhanced stealth, maneuverability and firefighting capabilities. It can run at 25 knots.

Russian Nuclear Missile Submarine Seen With Ukraine Invasion 'z'
ARLINGTON, Va. — The commander of the U.S. Pacific Submarine Force said today that the United States is considering increasing its submarine base in Guam amid strategic competition with China.

ARLINGTON, Va. - The U.S. Navy Submarine Force is about to implement reforms following the October 2021 Connecticut attack submarine collision, the commander of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force said.
Deputy spokesman William Houston said 27 of the 28 major actions recommended in the command's investigation have been completed, with the last one scheduled for completion in the spring.
The Connecticut was damaged when it struck an undersea mountain in the shallow waters and rugged terrain of the South China Sea.

"Fundamentally, this accident should have been avoided. The crew was more than capable of doing it," Houston said at the Naval Submarine Alliance's annual meeting here.
"In this case, some of the actions that the ships didn't take were necessary for each process. So we gave them additional procedures, and we also gave them additional training to understand some of the principles behind those procedures. Xi," he later told reporters.
On additional training, he said the entire officer curriculum has been revised and junior officers will now receive additional nautical training. Junior enlisted sailors also receive further training in nautical navigation and the proper use of their navigational equipment.
