After 2003, through a detachment of the Marine Corps Special Operations Command, he found himself in special operations, the pilot program was born in response to the need for special operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the MARSOC unit of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM). Ten years ago, a need in the special operations community was met by the addition of MARSOC to SOCOM. Creating an "elite force within an elite force" has always been a tough sell for Marine Corps brass.

After the Pacific War (1944), the reduced need for small amphibious operations disbanded the Marine Raiders, and not becoming part of SOCOM in the 1980s kept the Marines out of the joint special operations world until 9/11. After 9-11 in 2001, the mission changed again, requiring more highly trained members who could participate in tactical direct action, foreign defense, counterterrorism, information warfare, human intelligence, and special intelligence missions.

Us Marine Corps Critical Skills Operator (cso) & Special Operations Officer (soo) Selection & Training

The MARSOC community has grown into a close-knit family of combat veterans, skilled special operators, highly intelligent support personnel, and operational training personnel. They've created a complex pipeline that experienced Marines can follow if they want to join the ranks of Marine Special Operations.

Just over a year ago, in 2014, the Commandant of the Marine Corps (General Amos) announced that all MARSOC command units would be renamed. The Marine Raider name was reverted to identify the Marines as MARSOC. The term Raider is a fabled identity that honors and connects the Special Operations Marines of World War II to today's MARSOC Raider.

CSOs are front-line Marines, Sailors and officers who are complex problem solvers who can perform the full range of special operations in small teams in any environment while maintaining a high level of flexibility and physical endurance. These operatives often train host nation groups, gather intelligence on the enemy, and use lethal force against the enemy when necessary. Specialized CSO training also expands the language fluency needed to overcome cultural barriers among foreign military and civilian populations. CSOs hired since 2011 can remain with MARSOC for their careers if they wish. And since 2014, Marine Special Operations Officers have also been approved as an occupational specialty, or MOS.

The development of marine CSOs takes at least 4.5 years. To register for Raider Selection and Evaluation, a Marine must have at least three years (at least Corporal) in the Corps to be considered for MARSOC. The selection process begins with experienced Marines from any MOS.

SOCS are combat support Marines who can join MARSOC in their original MOS and receive advanced special operations training in a force multiplier role. These tickets include Intelligence, Communications, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Assistance Canine and Fire Specialists.

SOCS-S are combat support Marines who serve a tour with MARSOC, such as motor transport or logistics. SOCS-S studies how to execute joint and interagency operational missions and develop the warfighting skills of Special Operations Forces (SOF) to successfully integrate and thrive in a special operations environment.

From outside observation and daily interaction with prospective members, I consider MARSOC's rebranding to be a brilliant move. I have already received many letters. Letters from teenagers and young adults saying they wanted to become pirates. MARSOC is seeking a seasoned Special Operator with experience who is intelligent and strong enough to train and execute high-level missions around the world. But to become a Marine, you must first be a Marine.

See employer; to join the marines. Since MARSOC recruits from any MOS, select the MOS of your choice. You can use the RECON MOS (0321) as a step if you are a hard charger, but it is not necessary. Navy corpsmen can join as combat medics and receive advanced special operations medical training after training.

Marsoc Raiders With Weapons

School of the Infantry (SOI) - All Marines are gunners. You will attend one of two SOI branches:

Assigned to your Permanent Service (PDS). This is where you do your job - stand out and earn it. At three years or the rank of corporal, you can begin selection to become a MARSOC Raider.

Assessment and Selection – Stage 1 is a three-week Assessment and Selection Preparation and Orientation Course (ASPOC) leading up to the main selection stage. During this phase, Marines will be tested both mentally and physically. You will learn about the MARSOC Raider requirements and personally assess your willingness to proceed. A passing grade does not guarantee your selection in subsequent rounds.

Assessment and Selection - Phase 2, A&S2 is a mentally and physically challenging assessment that allows MARSOC to identify Marines who possess certain characteristics and personalities compatible with special operations missions.

Justice For The Marsoc 3 Is Delayed Yet Again

Individual Training Course (ITC) - a nine-month course that focuses on the skills necessary to develop a highly skilled Marine special operator, including direct action, close combat, special intelligence, external internal defense, fire support, tactical casualty care, irregular warfare, counter-evasion for survival, Escape and infantry weapons and tactics. Upon successful completion of ITC, officers will also attend a four-week Team Commanders Course (TCC).

The training does not end here. Depending on your deployment cycles, you may have time at many of these schools while serving in the Raider Battalion, such as Advanced Language Courses, Sniper School, Combat Diver School, and many others.

MARSOC quickly evolved into a massive special operations community. The training pipeline is similar to that of the Army Special Forces, with similar duration and educational assessment, selection and qualification courses. It also has very difficult water trust skills and wrist requirements for both SEAL and Ranger training. If you are training for MARSOC, you need advance training to excel, but operational excellence is just as important during the training process.
